>Green River Correctional Complex is a state prison situated close to Central City, in Kentucky. It was inaugurated around 1994 and houses almost 1000 male inmates. This prison facility is devoted to adult males that require medium security monitoring and it is operated by the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, Department of Corrections. Over 250 people work at Green River Correctional Complex permanently.
Inmates residing at this penitentiary complex are allowed to receive mail, although it is opened and screened for contraband prior to its delivery. They can also be given money, as long as it’s in the form of a money order, but they can only have $200 deposited at a time unless it was sent to them by an immediate family member.
In regards the structure of this correctional facility, it has three medium security housing units with over 400 double bank cells, one segregation unit for inmates that require maximum security and a few units for inmates which require less supervision.
