campcusinoCamp Cusino, also referred to as Cusino Corrections Prison Work Camp, is located on the west side of Shingleton, Michigan. It was inaugurated at the beginning of the 1950s and it was closed at the end of July 2009.
Camp Cusino integrated the Corrections Conservation Prison Camp Program and most of the inmates there worked at the Cusino Wildlife Research Station situated nearby. At first it was a minimum security facility but, as years went by, the conditions of security were seriously improved and the camp was properly fenced with razor wire.
