Arizona State Prison Complex Safford is on the prison facilities under the control of the Arizona Department of Corrections. It is located in Safford, in the county of Graham, in Arizona, quite a few miles south east from the city of Phoenix.
Arizona State Prison Complex Safford started as a minimum security work camp in the 1970’s were almost 200 male inmates were housed in tents. Needless to say, they did not require a very strict security monitoring. The first buildings were constructed in the mid 1970’s, the first of them being a dorm for 48 men. In 1983, two dorms for 64 male inmates were completed. At present, this prison facility can house almost 750 inmates, who mostly work for the community or for some government agencies.
